Margaret and I paid an afternoon visit after Sunday Meeting to Brockwood Park, between Petersfield and Hampshire. We had a delicious vegetarian lunch and dinner there. In between, we walked round and beyond the spacious grounds, meditated in an unusual sort of “chamber” dedicated to silent awareness and chatted to a handful of delightful guests there.
Margaret and I both felt that this environment would provide a wonderful light, airy and peaceful space for Friends looking for a retreat and appreciating the opportunity to be with like-minded people. Accommodation available for those wishing to stay for two or more nights.
The Centre was founded by Jiddu Krishnamurti shortly before he died aged 90 in 1986. Krishnamurti was a speaker and writer on spiritual/philosophical/social issues. While we were there, three of us watched a DVD together in the media room in which he was having an entertaining discussion with a class of schoolchildren in India.
